What you are looking at once PlayTime - Amaru Gaming goes live

Dota 2 is a MOBA built by Valve, released in 2013 and descended from the Defense of the Ancients map for WarCraft III. Five players a side, two factions: Radiant on the bright half of the map, Dire on the dark one. The win condition never changes — destroy the enemy Ancient, the throne sitting inside the opposing base.

The map runs on three lanes — safe, mid and off — with jungle in between. Towers guard each lane and have to fall before the base is reachable. The fastest way to judge a game in progress is to check which towers are still standing; that tells you more than the kill counter at the top of the screen.

The five roles do very different jobs. The carry (position 1) scales and turns lethal late. The mid (2) sets the tempo. The offlaner (3) exists to slow the enemy carry down. Supports (4 and 5) supply vision, healing and crowd control. Other fixtures are listed on the esports schedule and odds page.

Draft and net worth: the two readings behind every price move

Before the first minute, both sides take turns banning and picking heroes from a shared pool. That draft already declares an intention — fight early, or absorb twenty minutes of pressure and take over afterwards. You can read the shape of the map before a single creep dies.

After that, resources decide everything. Gold and experience come from last-hitting creeps, from kills and from destroyed buildings. Net worth difference is the most honest measure of an advantage: one line on a graph and you know who owns the map. As that gap widens, prices shift inside the in-play betting hub and tighten again the moment the trailing side claws back.

One more moving part: Valve ships balance patches that reshape heroes and items. The metagame slides after a major update, and a team's form can look different a few weeks later.

First blood, first tower and the Roshan pit

Three checkpoints shape a map. First blood usually lands in the opening minutes and hands a small gold cushion to whoever takes it. The first tower cracks a lane open and creates room to rotate across the map.

Roshan is the neutral boss. Whoever kills him walks away with the Aegis of the Immortal — a free respawn for one player. A pit fight that goes wrong can cost five heroes in a single engagement, and that is the second the game turns, not thirty seconds later.

This is why quotes lurch around Roshan after a long, quiet farming phase where almost nothing moved. Fixtures further down the calendar are prepared from the pre-match lines instead.

Comebacks are not folklore — buyback explains them

Two mechanics explain how often a lost game turns. Buyback lets a dead player return instantly by paying gold, so a cornered team can defend its Ancient when the situation looks finished. Backdoor protection shields buildings further while the attacker's creeps have not arrived with them.

So a huge net worth lead is never a guarantee. Group stages run Bo1, playoffs Bo3, finals Bo5, and every map is a self-contained game — maps are counted as maps won, never added up into points.

The competitive frame around all of it has been stable for years. The International, run by Valve since 2011, is the season's headline event with its Aegis of Champions and regional qualifiers across Europe, China, Southeast Asia, North America and South America. Around it sit DreamLeague, ESL One, PGL, BLAST Slam and the Riyadh Masters held inside the Esports World Cup.

Stream delay: the gap between your screen and the server

The video you watch trails the game server. Depending on the platform and the quality you pick, that lag runs into tens of seconds. During a long sequence — a Roshan teamfight, a high ground push — the market has already priced the outcome by the time the picture reaches you.

Two habits cut the damage. Lowering stream quality shaves off some latency. More importantly, decide from match data — net worth, towers left, Roshan timer — rather than from what the screen shows right now. Plenty of bettors keep the 1xBet mobile app open as a second screen for exactly that: video on one device, markets on the other.

Which Dota 2 markets stay open in play

What is available depends on timing. Everything is on the board before the map starts; once it is running, objective markets take over and close one by one as events land.

On top of that sit clean-sweep bets — winning without dropping a map — which come into play when a settled roster meets a regional qualifier. The exact list changes with the fixture and the stage of the tournament, so open the match page to see what is actually offered while you are watching. Access to in-play markets needs an account, and you can open an account in a couple of minutes.
