Snooker betting in Morocco: frames, breaks and the Triple Crown

Snooker is a cue sport played one against one on a large pocketed table. Its unit of scoring is the frame: a single game, won by the player holding more points once nothing is left to pot. A match is decided over an odd number of frames, best of 11, best of 19 or longer, and the first player past the halfway mark takes it; the result is written in frames, 6–3 or 10–7.

Break, century, 147: how a frame is scored 🎱

A break is the run of points a player makes in one visit to the table, until a miss or the end of the frame. From 100 upward it is a century; 147 is the maximum. The scoreboard therefore carries both the frame count, which decides the match, and the breaks, which have markets of their own.

How many frames a match needs depends on the round. At the World Championship the opening round is best of 19, the second round and the quarter-finals best of 25, the semi-finals best of 33 and the final best of 35, spread over two days. Matches of that length are split into sessions, and the frame count carries over from one to the next.

Tournament, match, market: reading the snooker line on 1xBet

The line copies the shape of the tour. Open a tournament and its matches appear in order of start time, shown in Rabat time. The best-of format sets the limits of every one of these markets. A best-of-25 quarter-final ends when someone reaches 13, so the match runs to between 13 and 25 frames, and a total is read against that span. A handicap of −3.5 asks the chosen player to win by four or more, 13–9 for instance; at +3.5 the same player may lose 11–13 and the bet still wins. Break markets ignore the result altogether: the loser of a match may still own its highest break.

Snooker in Morocco: a federation in Casablanca, gold in 2019, a world event in Saïdia 🇲🇦

Morocco has its own governing body, the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Sports de Billard et Snooker (FRMSBS), based in Casablanca. When the African Games came to that city from 20 to 24 August 2019, the home players won three snooker golds: Amine Amiri in the men's singles, Youssra Matine in the women's event and the pair Bellamine and Kissai in the mixed doubles. With one silver and two bronze medals, the Moroccan tally came to six.

Saïdia, in the Oriental region, then staged the WSF Championship, the World Snooker Federation's world amateur title, from 24 January to 1 February 2025 — the first edition ever held in Africa; Gao Yang of China won it. The professional tour itself plays mostly in the United Kingdom and China, with stops in Berlin, Llandudno and Hong Kong; from Casablanca or Rabat, this page is the window on it.

Season 2026/27: what has been decided and what comes next 📅

Between late July and mid-September the tour crowned five different winners. Judd Trump took the invitational Shanghai Masters 11–6 against Kyren Wilson; Mark Selby won a record fourth China Open in Taiyuan, 10–6 over Noppon Saengkham; Chang Bingyu claimed his first ranking title at the Wuhan Open, 10–7 against Zhao Xintong; Jak Jones beat Selby 10–6 in the British Open final at Cheltenham; and Ali Carter won his first English Open in Brentwood, 9–6 against Mark Williams. Zhao Xintong became world number one at the end of August, on reaching the Wuhan quarter-finals, replacing Judd Trump, number one since August 2024.

The reigning world champion is Wu Yize, who beat Shaun Murphy in the 2026 final at the Crucible. The rest of the season is built around the Triple Crown:

World Championship, Crucible Theatre, Sheffield — 17 April to 3 May 2027; one hundred years after the first edition of 1927 and the fifty-first year in a row at the Crucible, with qualifying from 5 to 14 April at the EIS in Sheffield.

Before York, the tour visits Shenzhen at the turn of September and October, the Waterfront Hall in Belfast from 18 to 25 October for the Northern Ireland Open, and Nanjing from 31 October to 7 November for the International Championship; the Champion of Champions, another invitational, follows in Leicester in November.

How long are matches outside the World Championship?

Shorter. The Masters is played over best of 11 with a best-of-19 final; the English Open final is best of 17; the British Open and China Open finals go to the first player with 10 frames. Only the World Championship stretches to best of 35, and only in its final.

Who won the two Triple Crown events before this season?

Kyren Wilson won the Masters in January 2026, beating John Higgins 10–6, and Mark Selby took the UK Championship at the end of 2025 with a 10–8 win over Judd Trump. Both return as holders in 2026/27.

Does the Masters have qualifying rounds?

No. The Masters is an invitational for the top sixteen of the world ranking, so its draw is set by the ranking rather than by qualifiers. It is one of three invitation-only events in 2026/27, with the Shanghai Masters and the Champion of Champions; the other 18 of the season's 23 tournaments carry ranking points.

Which tournaments are played in China this season?

The Shanghai Masters, the China Open in Taiyuan and the Wuhan Open were played between late July and the end of August. Still to come are the Shenzhen Open at the turn of September and October, the International Championship in Nanjing from 31 October to 7 November, the World Grand Prix in Hong Kong in February and the World Open in Yushan in March.
